REACTION TO THE POEM "DAHIL SA PAG-IBIG"

DAHIL SA PAG-IBIG ni IƱigo Ed. Regalado
KAHAPON…
Sa tingin ko’y tila pawang kalumbayan
ang inihahandog ng lahat ng bagay,
pati ng mabangong mga bulaklakan
ay putos ng luksa at pugad ng panglaw;
akala ko tuloy itong Daigdigan
ay isang mallit na libingan lamang.
Mangyari, Kahapon
ang dulot mo’y lason.
NGAYON…
Sa mga mata ko ay pawang ligaya
ang inihahandog ng bawa’t makita,
pati ng libingang malayo’t ulila
wari’y halamanang pugad ng ginhawa;
sa aking akala’y tila maliit pa
itong Daigdigan sa aking panata.
Papaano, Ngayo’y
nagwagi ang layon.

BUKAS…
Sino baga kaya ang makatatatap
ng magiging guhit nitong ating palad?
Ang buhay ng tao ay lunday sa dagat
na inaamihan at hinahabagat;
itong Daigdigan ay isang palanas
na nabibinhian ng lungkot at galak.
Bukas! Ang pag-asa’y
mahirap mataya…

REACTION:
In love, there is no such a wrong love. The biggest mistake you could ever make is being too afraid to make one or loving a person in a wrong time so you just have to go with your heart.

MY FUTURE

There was a single moment in my life that drive my ambition to become an educator. Throughout my mother when asked "what do you want to be when you grow up" I always respond with something very deep like an educator, but I always knew that was just to follow the footstep of my mother. After I graduated in high school I knew exactly what I wanted to be. I wanted to become a police woman someday but I knew I was not capable to become one because of lack of self-esteem but instead I just take it as a challenge to pursue my dream to protect and serve my country. I thought that life was about happiness and dreams so I decided to stand up to what I believes in. Bit there's a point in my life that I almost give up of my course because of some difficulties during our trainings as package of my chosen field. But I knew that it only serves as an inspiration in my life and it has taught me to never give up on believing, and I knew that anyone can who they want to be, but only way to live that dream is to stick with it and never give up on it.

STORY OF MY LIFE

There is no greater pain that felt by not being accepted for who you are. When I was in grade 2 I started to confirm in myself that I'm a lesbian. I had a terrible crush on a girl, I actually had feelings for her that were more than just admiration or friendship. But no one knows about who the real me because of the way I dressed up. I've only change the way I dressed up since I've decided to took up criminology course. But my mom and dad didn't know that I'm a lesbian. So I just keep on pretending that I'm a straight girl knowing that they will get angry if they will know the truth until it came to a point that I've decided to reveal to them that I'm in a relationship with a girl for I was thought that they will just accept it. But I was wrong, they were so much disappointed. My mom never allowed too see my girlfriend until now.

WHAT DO I EXPECT FROM THE NEW PRESIDENT

I have very simple areas of my expectation for our next president. First, continuity of the economic reform and growth that we have been experiencing. Second, resolute in implementing the laws without fear or favor. Third is a president that can unite all Filipinos to move in disciplined cadence towards our country’s achieving a respected place in the league of nations, economy-wise and as a proud people. The priority should be poverty alleviation by providing more job opportunities even for those with limited educational background.Crime is just one part, a vibrant economy that can solve poverty is indispensable. Lastly, stop all forms of corruption at all levels.

THE WONDERS OF PROVINCE OF NEGROS ORIENTAL

LAKE BALINSASAYAO
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) through the Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB) manages tourist activities in the natural park. The bureau allows swimming, sightseeing, mountain trekking, camping, birdwatching, paddle boating in Lake Balinsasayao. The natural park has a concrete view deck, umbrella cottages, a restaurant, a souvenir shop, restrooms, and a visitor center.

LAKE BALANAN
Lake Balanan offers you their one of a kind facilities/amenities so that it will make your stay memorable and exciting it includes a lodging at their tree house, three swimming pool to choose from, gourmet restaurant, and a room for overnight stay. They have adventure activities also for water adventure/trekking lover like fishing, kayaking, boat riding, and hiking along the cemented pathways around the lake or going to the Waterfalls. It is one way for you to enjoy the magnificent views and the fresh mountain breeze that will bring you relief.

CASARORO FALLS
The single veil of Casaroro Falls drops unimpeded down a ninety-foot ravine and into a swirling pool that, well, reminds you of a flushing toilet. Jutting rocks await the water as it falls in a great and mighty roar.
Huge tree ferns in verdant hues and intricate patterns shroud rock faces covered by mother nature herself.

PULANGBATO FALLS
Pulangbato Falls has a wide cascade. The water pours down into a swimming hole that is also deep enough for high dives. Enthusiasts clamber up to a nearby rock that functions as a diving point and free fall into the water basin. The shape of Pulangbato Falls has been considered unique because of its layered structure. At the first tier, the cascade begins narrowly and widens progressively as it moves down the next levels. At a distance, the waterfalls look triangular in shape.

White Sand Bar
Though technically belonging to the jurisdiction of the neighboring Manjuyod town, the sand bar is closely associated to Bais City because of its proximity and popularity in the Bais area. It is also a major stopover during dolphin and whale watching group tours organized by the Bais City Tourism Council. The boat is temporarily anchored so that the guests can picnic, swim, sunbathe, and laze around, snorkel or scuba dive in the waters surrounding the sand bar.

Aerial
 View - Niludhan Falls

NILUDHAN FALLS
The trip from Dumaguete to Bayawan, and from Bayawan to Mabinay will allow you to see a myriad of interesting sites and glimpse at the provincial live of the local people of Negros Oriental. A 20-kilometer stretch of the Bayawan-Mabinay road, starting from Sitio Sitio Gamao to the falls drop-off point, is quite rough and bumpy. But this small inconvenience will be greatly rewarded with the hypnotic beauty of this stunning waterfall.

KANLAON VOLCANO
The volcano is a favorite spot for mountain climbers and is the centerpiece of Mount Kanlaon Natural Park, a national park originally established on August 8, 1934.[It is one of the active volcanoes in the Philippines and part of the Pacific ring of fire.

FAVORITE FILIPINO POEMS

BITUIN AT PANGANORIN

Ako’y nagsapanganorin upang ikaw’y makausap
At sa pisngi niyong langit ang dilim ko’y inilatag;
Ako nama’y sumang-ayon dapwat ako’y Panganorin
Na talagang hatinggabi kung lumapit sa Bituin,
Kaya ikaw, Bituin ko’y nasuyo ko’t naging akin.
Liwanag mo at dilim ko’y magdamag ding naghalikan,
Ngunit tayo’y inumaga! …  Akong dilim ay naparam
At natakot sa ama mong nandidilat sa silangan!

DAHIL SA PAG-IBIG
KAHAPON…
Sa tingin ko’y tila pawang kalumbayan
ang inihahandog ng lahat ng bagay,
pati ng mabangong mga bulaklakan
ay putos ng luksa at pugad ng panglaw;
akala ko tuloy itong Daigdigan
ay isang mallit na libingan lamang.
Mangyari, Kahapon
ang dulot mo’y lason.
NGAYON…
Sa mga mata ko ay pawang ligaya
ang inihahandog ng bawa’t makita,
pati ng libingang malayo’t ulila
wari’y halamanang pugad ng ginhawa;
sa aking akala’y tila maliit pa

SA TABI NG DAGAT

Marahang-marahang
manaog ka, Irog, at kata’y lalakad,
maglulunoy katang
payapang-payapa sa tabi ng dagat;
di na kailangang
sapnan pa ang paang binalat-sibuyas,
ang daliring garing
at sakong na wari’y kinuyom na rosas!
Manunulay kata,
habang maaga pa, sa isang pilapil
na nalalatagan
ng damong may luha ng mga bituin;
patiyad na tayo
ay maghahabulang simbilis ng hangin,
nguni’t walang ingay,
hangganq sa sumapit sa tiping buhangin…
Pagdating sa tubig,
mapapaurong kang parang nanginigmi,
gaganyakin kata
sa nangaroroong mga lamang-lati:
doon ay may tahong,
talaba’t halaang kabigha-bighani,
hindi kaya natin
mapuno ang buslo bago tumanghali?
Pagdadapit-hapon
kata’y magbabalik sa pinanggalingan,
sugatan ang paa
at sunog ang balat sa sikat ng araw…
Talagang ganoon:
Sa dagat man, irog, ng kaligayahan,
lahat, pati puso
ay naaagnas ding marahang-marahan…

Ang Kanyang Mga Mata
Dalawang bituing
kumikislap-kislap
sa gitna
ng dilim. . .
Tambal ng aliw
na sasayaw-sayaw
sa tuwing ako’y
naninimdim. . .
Bukang-liwayway
ng isang pagsintang
walang maliw!
Takipsilim

May isang dakilang pananampalataya,
Palibhasa’y inang may puso’t pagkasi.

MY FAVORITE FILIPINO HERO

DR. JOSE RIZAL

He was an expert swordsman and a good shot. In the hope of securing political and social reforms for his country and at the same time educate his countrymen, Rizal, the greatest apostle of Filipino nationalism, published, while in Europe, several works with highly nationalistic and revolutionary tendencies. In March 1887, his daring book, NOLI ME TANGERE, a satirical novel exposing the arrogance and despotism of the Spanish clergy, was published in Berlin; in 1890 he reprinted in Paris, Morga’s SUCCESSOS DE LAS ISLAS FILIPINAS with his annotations to prove that the Filipinos had a civilization worthy to be proud of even long before the Spaniards set foot on Philippine soil; on September 18, 1891, EL FILIBUSTERISMO, his second novel and a sequel to the NOLI and more revolutionary and tragic than the latter, was printed in Ghent. Because of his fearless exposures of the injustices committed by the civil and clerical officials, Rizal provoked the animosity of those in power. This led himself, his relatives and countrymen into trouble with the Spanish officials of the country. As a consequence, he and those who had contacts with him, were shadowed; the authorities were not only finding faults but even fabricating charges to pin him down. Thus, he was imprisoned in Fort Santiago from July 6, 1892 to July 15, 1892 on a charge that anti-friar pamphlets were found in the luggage of his sister Lucia who arrive with him from Hong Kong. While a political exile in Dapitan, he engaged in agriculture, fishing and business; he maintained and operated a hospital; he conducted classes- taught his pupils the English and Spanish languages, the arts.

The sciences, vocational courses including agriculture, surveying, sculpturing, and painting, as well as the art of self defense; he did some researches and collected specimens; he entered into correspondence with renowned men of letters and sciences abroad; and with the help of his pupils, he constructed water dam and a relief map of Mindanao - both considered remarkable engineering feats. His sincerity and friendliness won for him the trust and confidence of even those assigned to guard him; his good manners and warm personality were found irresistible by women of all races with whom he had personal contacts; his intelligence and humility gained for him the respect and admiration of prominent men of other nations; while his undaunted courage and determination to uplift the welfare of his people were feared by his enemies.

When the Philippine Revolution started on August 26, 1896, his enemies lost no time in pressing him down. They were able to enlist witnesses that linked him with the revolt and these were never allowed to be confronted by him. Thus, from November 3, 1986, to the date of his execution, he was again committed to Fort Santiago. In his prison cell, he wrote an untitled poem, now known as "Ultimo Adios" which is considered a masterpiece and a living document expressing not only the hero’s great love of country but also that of all Filipinos. After a mock trial, he was convicted of rebellion, sedition and of forming illegal association. In the cold morning of December 30, 1896, Rizal, a man whose 35 years of life had been packed with varied activities which proved that the Filipino has capacity to equal if not excel even those who treat him as a slave, was shot at Bagumbayan Field.

First of all, we should clarify the meaning of a hero to make it simple to understand how and why Dr. Jose Rizal became a hero. Jose Rizal became a hero because he fought from freedom of silent but in powerful way. He expressed his love for the Philippines through his novels, essays, articles and poems rather than a force of aggression.

So I choose Dr. Jose Rizal as my favorite hero because he did a very good job for us considering the fact that he had set us all free from slavery and better education. He is a very good example and an inspiration to us because of his intelligence. He had proven the saying that goes, "A pen is mightier than sword".

Family Tradition

Seven Churches Visitation- also known as Visita Iglesia, it is an ancient pious Roman Catholic Lenten tradition to visit seven churches on the evening of Holy Thursday. On Maundy Thursday of Holy Week, following the Mass of the Lord's Supper, the Blessed Sacrament, is reserved on the Altar of Repose in the church for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. During the Seven Churches Visitation or Visita Iglesia, the faithful visit several churches sometimes seven, sometimes fourteen, sometimes no set number depending upon the particular practice to pray before the Blessed Sacrament in each church.

Simbang Gabi- it is a devotional nine day series of masses practised by Roman Catholics and Aglipayans in the Philippines in anticipation of Christmas and to honour the Blessed Virgin Mary. The masses are held daily from December 16 to December 24, and occur at different times ranging from as early as 03:00 to 05:00 AM. On the last day of the Simbang Gabi, which is Christmas Eve, the service is instead called Misa de Gallo.

Novena every night- it is a devotion consisting of prayer said on nine successive days asking to obtain special graces.

Weekend family bonding- not only jamming with family help to solve problems but it can also strengthen families.

Watching UAAP women's volleyball every season-  there's something incredibly relaxing and comforting about watching volleyball with your family. Pass down your favorite team which is ATENEO LADY EAGLES as you cheer up your fav team on T.V.

Things to do and see in Sibulan

Situated in the town center of Sibulan in Negros Oriental, the simplistic-looking San Antonio de Padua Church welcomes the tourists to the small and peaceful municipality. About two kilometers north of the Dumaguete Airport, Sibulan is one of the many municipalities in the country that is base from Spanish ideas – the Municipal Hall is near the park, churches, schools and trading centers.

The bell gabled San Antonio de Padua Church built in 1953 is an example of a simple Romanesque architecture. Its architectural element crowning at the upper end of the wall of the church has a couple of bells in lieu of a church tower. It consists of a gable end in stone, with small hollow semi-circular arches. The facade has a statue of San Antonio de Padua housed inside a glass. It also has a couple of windows, a floral ventilation design and the main door. The design of San Antonio de Padua Church in Sibulan makes the church unique – different from most old churches found in the country, which are base on Baroque-Rococo structure.

According to Wikipedia, Anthony of Padua is a Portuguese Catholic priest and friar of the Franciscan Order. Though he died in Padua, he was born and raised in a wealthy family in Lisbon. Noted by his contemporaries for his forceful preaching and expert knowledge of scripture, he was the second-fastest canonized saint (after St. Peter of Verona) and proclaimed a Doctor of the Church on 16 January 1946.In front of San Antonio de Padua Church in Sibulan is the town’s park, where the police station, Sibulan Central School, covered auditorium, United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) are located. To the west is Sibulan’s public market, where fresh fishes, vegetables and other goods are available.

Also known as Sibulan Church, the San Antonio de Padua Church is formed like a cross if you view it from the top. There are regular masses in the morning and afternoon and several mass schedules on Sundays.

Legend of my hometown

The origin of the name Sibulan is more historical than mythical. The story goes that during the Spanish occupation of the Philippines, a group of Spaniards wandered around the area. They met several women carrying bamboo tubes, tools they used to fetch water from the springs. The Spaniards asked the women the name of the place. None of the women understood Spanish, so communication failed rather miserably. The women took it to mean the Spaniards were asking them the source of the water they were fetching, so they replied, "Sibuls", meaning "spring". Noting the abundance of springs in the area, the Spaniards named it the Land of Sibuls or land of numerous springs. As the years went by, influence of time and elements of change brought the name of the place modified to its present name, SIBULAN.
In 1838, Sibulan became a Parish under the secular order. Then in 1856, the parish was taken over by a regular church priest.

In 1910, Sibulan had its first set of municipal government officials when it became a municipality. Its creation was in accordance with Act No. 82, dated January 31, 1910 of the Philippine Commission relative to the creation of municipal governments in the country. The first appointed president (municipal mayor) was Macario Literal.
